Bas Steens (1996, Amsterdam) is a multidisciplinary artist and illustrator from Breda, in 2020, he graduated from the St Joost School of Art & Design. Currently, he works as an illustrator, conducts workshops in schools, and engages in his own autonomous art projects including paintings, sculptures and films. The inspiration for his work stems from his fascination with “the mysterious.” This can manifest in various forms, whether it be a place or landscape like the desert, or stories/myths and universal symbols (such as masks, animals, gates, and ladders) often playing a significant role in his creations.
The last couple years he did multiple artist residencies and exhibitions worldwide in Paris, Barcelona, Chile and Belgium and Morocco and showed hid first short film El Viento at the Ecozine Film Festival in Zaragoza (Spain) Bas is also part of the art collective Zut Mon Sac, which consists of seven artists — a diverse group of artists, photographers, graphic designers and illustrators from Breda.
