RaColaj is a civic initiative group dedicated to the art of analog collage, based in Sibiu. It was formed in 2019 as a community of amateur collage makers, born out of a creative coincidence.
Over time, its members became more professional, organizing exhibitions, workshops, and both local and national collaborations.
The group operates under the idea of a “small resistance” against banality, embracing free expression without strict rules — a space where play, experimentation, and spontaneous visual connections are encouraged.
Activities & Projects
Public workshops — RaColaj organizes analog collage workshops open to the public, where participants can experiment with magazines, cut-outs, glue — in a relaxed atmosphere without strict conditions.
Exhibitions — the group’s members have taken part in collective exhibitions in Sibiu (e.g., “Sun(t) Bine Mersi”, a project where collages were “translated” into soundscapes).
They also participated in local and national festivals — the Street ART Festival in Sibiu included RaColaj’s works in its program. During Noaptea Altfel / White Night of the Galleries (NAG), RaColaj presented the exhibition “Melting Point / Punct de Topire” in 2025, together with other collaborators.
Members, Identity & Philosophy
Among the active members is Aura Badiu (the initiator), along with others who contribute artistically to the group’s identity.
Their method is spontaneous and free — they don’t follow strict rules but instead let intuition create associations, contrasts, and visual storytelling.
A “successful” collage, they say, is more than just the final image: it’s a state of being, a connection between the creator and the viewer.
